Numbers 35-36 and Deuteronomy 1-2

The Facts (Chapter number: Verse)

Numbers 35 - No mention of any women.

Numbers 36 - There is concern about the daughters of Zelophehad and the inheritance they were given. There is concern about the daughters marrying into another tribe of Israel and their father's inheritance being absorbed into that tribe and taken away from his own tribe. God tells Moses that the daughters may marry whomever they choose but it must be a member of their father's tribe so that the inheritance will not transfer from one tribe to another. The daughters Mahlah, Tirzah, Hoglah, Milcah and Noah married sons of their father's brothers. They were married into the clans of the descendants of Manasseh son of Joseph, and their inheritance was kept in their father's tribe.

Deut 1 - No mention of any women.

2:34 - The Israelites captured all of Sihon's towns and in each utterly destroyed the men, women and children.

My Comments

Again, not much to talk about. The daughters of Zelophehad get the option of picking whomever they want as a husband with the draw back being they can only pick from a certain tribe. No big issue there, at least they still get to choose a husband themselves. Well, I assume they do, the Bible doesn't say otherwise. I bet they don't get to have anything to do with that inheritance once they are married, though. Pretty sure that gets transferred instantly to the husband. Oh well.

Tuesday: Deuteronomy 3-4 (updating on Tuesday since I'll be out of town all weekend)
