Deuteronomy 28-31

The Facts (Chapter number: Verse)

28:30 - (curses if you do not obey God's commandments) "You shall become engaged to a woman but another man shall lie with her."
28:32 - "Your sons and daughter shall be given to another people while you look on; you will strain your eyes looking for them all day but be powerless to do anything."
28:53-54 - "In the desperate straits to which the enemy siege reduces you, you will eat the fruit of your womb, the flesh of your own sons and daughters whom the Lord your God has given you. Even the most refined and gentle men among you will begrudge food to his own brother, to the wife whom he embraces, and to the last of his remaining children."
28:56-57 - "She who is the most refined and gentle among you, so gentle and refined that she does not venture to set the sole of her foot on the ground, will begrudge food to the husband whom she embraces, to her own son, and to her own daughter, begrudging even the afterbirth that comes from between her thighs and the children that she bears, because she is eating them in secret for lack of anything else, in the desperate straits to which the enemy siege will reduce you in your town."
28:68 - "The Lord shall bring you back in ships to Egypt, by a route that I promised you would never see again: and there you shall offer yourselves for sale to your enemies as male and female slaves, but there shall be no buyer."

29:11 - ...all your children, you women, and the aliens who are in your camp stand to enter into a covenant with God.
29:18 - There may be a man or woman, family or tribe, amongst them whose heart is already turning away from Gd and towards the gods of other nations.

Deuteronomy 30 - No mention of any women.

31:12 - Assemble the people - men, women, children as well as the aliens residing in your town - so that they may hear and learn to fear the Lord and to observe diligently his laws.

My Comments

So how about Deuteronomy 28, huh? Pretty awesome stuff. God may be (supposedly) against child sacrifice but he just LOVES making parents eat their own children. Cannibalism is just a hobby of his, I guess. Seriously, that is some pretty messed up shit right there, and the stuff I wrote is only a small portion of it. There are plagues and boils and starvation and abuse and blindness and it goes on and on. Basically God is getting people to follow him through sheer terror. Which he apparently loves, by the way. Deut 28:63 - "And just as the Lord took delight in making you prosperous and numerous, so the Lord will take delight in bringing you to ruin and destruction." I mean really? So much for love, God just enjoys using us as his little puppets. And if they upset him he takes just as much joy in watching them burn.

Not sure if anyone has ever seen the movie The Adventures of Mark Twain, and I may be dating myself mentioning it, but it was a claymation movie that involved three children from the book Tom Sawyer flying on a balloon with Mark Twain and venturing through his many stories and whatnot. It's pretty damn creepy most of the time, but maybe that's just my horrible fear of claymation talking. But God here and in many other places really makes me think of the part where the three children meet "Satan" and play creation with him. They call the character Satan, but honestly, it has so many similarities to the God of the Bible that it could just as easily be God. Anyway, here's the clip. It's pretty interesting to watch. The children's reactions at the end are about how I've been feeling reading up to this point.
