The Facts (Chapter number: Verse)
31:9 - The Israelitestook the women of Midian and their little ones captive.
31:15-18 - Moses asked the Israelites why they left the women alive. The Midian women made the Israelites act treacherously in the affairs of Peor and the plague came upon the congregation of the Lord. Moses commands the Isrealites to kill every male child and kill every woman who has known a man. But all the young girls who have not known a man may be kept alive for the Israelites to keep.
31:35 - The total persons were 32,000 in all, women who had not known a man.
32:26 - The Gadites and Reubenites tell Moses that their little ones, wives, flocks and livestock shall stay in the town of Gilead while they go to do battle for the Lord.
Numbers 33 - No mention of any women.
Numbers 34 - No mention of any women.
My Comments
Not much of note. Just a nice section demonstrating the "women as war booty" concept the Bible (and many other documents of ancient cultures) loves to mention. I can't help but feel so sorry for young girls back in the day. And I'm sure they had to be young to have never been married off or sold to be prostitutes/slaves so they'd never "known" a man. So the Bible condones treating women as nothing more than property to be taken AND pedophilia. So... God cares more about the sexual lives between consenting adults (ie. homosexuality) and NOT about grown men raping little girls? Nice...
Tomorrow: Numbers 35-36 and Deuteronomy 1-2
